"By nurturing the environment I am in turn nurturing all of the different parts of myself"
Our commitment to the earth in producing quality and timeless products is enlightened by Maxine as she showcases our shared connection to people, planet and purpose.
We got to know a little bit more about her and are delighted to share this with you...
We would love to know more about you and your background?
I grew up in Cherrybrook, Sydney for most of my childhood and adolescence. I am of half Chinese descent.
We love your creativity and ability to communicate through movement. Can you tell us what inspires you?
My movement is inspired firstly by the effort to understand how I relate to an environment. In understanding that relationship I try to communicate a story through physicality and gesture, which always responds to my initial relationship to a context, people, and society at large.

Being a spiritual person, how would you explain your connection to nature?
My connection to nature is intrinsic to being connected to the self. There are many different places to be, and so, there are many different ways to be. By nurturing the environment I am in turn nurturing all of the different parts of myself.
Women’s empowerment is at the heart of what we do, so we would love to know what has empowered you as a woman growing up and how have you coped with any adversity?I am a cis-gendered, queer, female and this identity can lead to instances of adversity, or me being faced with the feeling of ‘otherness’. Due to some strenuous circumstances I have found it hard to accept who I am and my body. Even though I have sometimes felt like my body is not my own, other people and their experiences continually inspire me to make it my own.
